The theme for 2020 is "Hope". Artists create black and white images as a visual representation of "Hope". Most mediums are accepted. Artwork must be original to the artist including reference materials and photography. This is the perfect opportunity to show your creativity and ingenuity to create works of art that inspire and encourage in this time of uncertainty. Hope for a future. Hope for health, unity, and love. Hope for races to unite and come together. Hope for life. Use your gift of imagination, to see beyond what is in front of you, to see like an artist, to reach into your soul and find Hope.
"In the past I have seen many artists incorporate live wood into their artwork. I have had the idea to use branches into my paintings as mixed media for some time now. I have been photographing trees now in Northern Michigan to get the correct scale and shapes since it is very wooded in my own yard.
Thank you. I am so excited to win my first BIS. I have done art in many media’s since I was very young. This gives me confidence to continue with my art. Thank you again."
"Homelessness in Canadian society is a calamity and tragedy, we as a whole are responsible for. We are socially conditioned to walk by other human beings freezing in the streets just because we have somewhere Our society tells us that we need to be… usually somewhere that we need to make money to live our own lives etc. We as human beings who experience homelessness also experience free will, something only we humans both understand. Not other living things. It's our free will and ability to choose to help, that compellingly shows you; just the unity and power, The Passion and the willingness; the simplicity required to join together… and triumph.
